Hill of a time to come!

You might not think it, with the gloomy weather we have been having, but it is officially summer.

One of my favourite things about the summer is going to music festivals with friends, and I am really excited about the huge range of events on offer here in Kent. I am particularly looking forward to Music on the Hill at Kings Hill in July.

There are some great acts lined up during the three-day festival, including Jools Holland, McFly, and one of my old-school favourites, Peter Andre.

Best of all, Music on the Hill is a fundraising event in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children and Teens Unite Fighting Cancer and 100% of the profits generated will be donated to these causes.

So rain or shine, I will definitely be there. And even if it does rain, it won’t matter. I will just have to don my rather fetching zebra-print wellies!

I hope you had a great Bank Holiday weekend, and if you have children, that you are all enjoying a fantastic half term!

When I was at school, I remember thinking there were never enough holidays, and when they did come round they always went so quickly!

But now I find myself listening to my best friend telling me the days couldn’t go any slower and her seven-year-old is driving her nuts because she can’t sit still!

At least there are lots of places to visit in Kent to keep little ones occupied – although I reckon some of the best things are the ones that cost no money at all. When I was little my mum and dad would help us put up a tent in the garden and my brother and I would pack it full of all our toys and games then get midnight snacks ready and camp in the garden! And if the weather wasn’t so good we just made a den under the dining table!

If you are a regular listener to the kmfm Breakfast Show with myself and Rob Wills, then you will know I’m a woman who likes a bargain. I am always collecting vouchers and finding codes online to get discounts, and my latest achievement is a cheap weekend staying at a caravan park in Newquay!

I will be heading up there on Friday afternoon, and my fingers are crossed the weather stays good so I can use the new skills I have been learning as part of our promotion with Active Coast, a campaign run by Visit Kent to get more people enjoying Kent’s beautiful coastline.

My presenter Rob Wills and I have been trying our hand at activities around the county and giving away prizes of family days out to lucky listeners. Hopefully I won’t embarrass myself too much!
