Penshurst Place near Tonbridge will act as a portal into the world of Narnia this Christmas

Penshurst Place is set to act as a portal to the magical world of Narnia this Christmas for the final time.

The historic house's Narnia-inspire grotto will delight visitors this festive season before it reveals a brand new theme in 2017.

Tickets go on sale for the grotto, which is a firm favourite among families for three seasons and regularly sells out, on Monday, September 12.

Surrounded by decorations and festive music, children can enjoy crafts before they are called by a dryad of Narnia to start their journey to the magical Wardrobe.

They will then be invited to open the wardrobe door and push though the hanging fur coats into the kingdom of Narnia. On the other side, Mr Tumnus and Mrs Beaver will be waiting in the dense forest to greet them.

A special gentleman in a red suit will be patiently waiting for them in his sleigh at the end of their journey.

The secret doorway to the kingdom will open on weekends from Saturday, November 26 until Sunday, December 11 and then daily until Friday, December 23. Tickets go on sale from 9.30am on Monday.

Entry is £12 per child for grotto access to the winter wonderland, craft activities, a playground trail, a candy cane and a wrapped gift from Father Christmas. For details visit penshurstplace.com.
