Tattoo: British Tattoo Art Revealed postponed at Historic Dockyard Chatham

An exhibition which was to chart the colourful history of British tattoo art has had to be postponed.

Tattoo: British Tattoo Art Revealed, which was to be held at the Historic Dockyard Chatham from this weekend, has been delayed after the site was forced to close due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The exhibition, which will feature more than 400 original artworks, photographs and historic artefacts, and highlight the work of major tattoo artists, including the first prominent female British tattoo artist, Jessie Knight, who apprenticed in Chatham, will be staged at a later date.

Dockyard managers took the decision this week to close their doors until Thursday, April 30.

Organisers hope to still stage the six-week exhibition run once they reopen.
