Art lovers will be able to see some of the world’s greatest works – in the unlikely setting of Vue Cinema in Westwood Cross, Broadstairs.

It is one of 70 cinemas across the UK to screen ground-breaking new art series Exhibition, focusing on some of history’s greatest painters.

It has been created by award-winning arts documentary maker, Phil Grabsky, and begins on Thursday, April 11 with Manet: Portraying Life at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. Cinemagoers will be able to see behind-the-scenes footage of exhibition preparations and take an exclusive tour of the works on show, in the company of renowned art historian and broadcaster Tim Marlow and his special guests.

Mr Marlow said: “I think that standing face to face with some of the greatest works of art ever made is one of the most powerful experiences in life.

“Exhibition gives us the opportunity to convey something of this power in a cinematic format which brings the viewer as close to the real thing as possible. Sometimes, the camera reveals even more than the naked eye.”

It starts at 7pm. Tickets £9.40 for adults, £7 for children. Visit www.myvue.com

The next two events are Munch at Oslo’s National Museum & Munch Museum, on Thursday, June 27; and Vermeer at London’s National Gallery, on Thursday, October 10.
