Thor and Avengers actor Tom Hiddleston to appear in National Theatre At Home's Coriolanus

Golden Globe award winner and Avengers star Tom Hiddleston will appear in the latest world class theatre screening during lockdown.

The Marvel films actor will star in the latest National Theatre At Home screening this week, playing the title role of Shakespeare’s searing tragedy of political manipulation and revenge, Coriolanus.

The performance was staged at Donmar Warehouse by former artistic Director, Josie Rourke, and also features Alfred Enoch, Deborah Findlay and Mark Gatiss.

The production - part of the National Theatre’s initiative to screen much-loved National Theatre Live productions on YouTube for free during the current crisis - will be screened on the National Theatre's YouTube channel on Thursday, June 4, at 7pm.

When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus (Hiddleston). But he has enemies at home too.

After it has been broadcast the show will be available on demand for seven days.

Broadcasts so far have included A Streetcar Named Desire featuring Gillian Anderson and Antony and Cleopatra with Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo.
