Join Great British Bake Off’s Prue Leith in conversation with Gavin Esler at the Gulbenkian in Canterbury

Dame Prue Leith will be serving up the secrets of her successful career as a chef, restaurant owner, television presenter and writer at the Gulbenkian.

Prue is best known as a judge on Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off - but what does she get up to when she’s not setting technical challenges or tasting bakes with Paul Hollywood?

The expert cake-taster will be joined in conversation with former Newsnight presenter Gavin Esler, who is swapping his probing political questions for a night of top kitchen tips with one of the country’s finest bakers.

Gavin won’t be the only one quizzing Prue on her life and career - ticket-holders will also have their chance, as the event includes an audience Q&A. Fans can submit their questions for Prue ahead of time with an email or on social media.

If the culinary conversation gets your taste buds tingling, there’s no need for the evening to end there. You can extend your invitation to include a post-show dinner. Start your dining experience with a pre-dinner drinks reception, before sitting down to a three-course meal with wine and coffee, all served by the Gulbenkian’s in-house catering.

The dinner package can be purchased in addition to your ticket for £35 per person.

Prue has starred in the Great British Bake Off, alongside blue-eyed breadmaker Paul Hollywood, since 2017. She has previously been the face of numerous cooking shows, including the Great British Menu and My Kitchen Rules.

With eight novels under her belt, as well as a memoir and a whopping 14 cookbooks, including the Vegetarian Kitchen book which she wrote with her niece Peta Leith, Prue has a place on many a British bookshelf.

You can catch Prue and Gavin in conversation at the Gulbenkian on Monday, March 7. Tickets cost £7. Book online here or call 01227 769 075.
