John Newman to bring The Out of the Blue tour to Margate

Singer John Newman has announced he is bringing his new tour of intimate venues to Kent this summer.

With a stripped-back band The Out of the Blue tour aims to take the singer back to his roots, playing in small, intimate venues - and plans to turn up in a camper van ready to perform.

He will play independent music venue and record store Elsewhere in Margate in July.

Since bursting onto the scene as the co-writer and voice on Rudimental’s Feel The Love John, who used to live near Whitstable, has played some of the biggest stages and legendary venues.

But he said: "I’ve really missed being in smaller venues; real, honest, up-close gigs like the ones I used to play when I first started out.

"Thinking back to those days I decided to strip everything back to the core - voice, guitar and songs. The thought of just turning up to venues in parts of the country off the beaten touring circuit, was very appealing to me. The big festival appearances and arena shows are amazing and I love doing them but there’s something incredible about performing in a small room where you can actually look the audience in the eye and feel that energy."

He added: "The fans will also get to hear new songs that I’ve been saving up, as well as the ones they know. I’ve called it The Out Of The Blue Tour because I want that feeling of just turning up somewhere, setting up and playing a great show. I’m really excited about this and can’t wait to get out there.”

He recently told kmfm how his mum lives in east Kent.

He will be performing a mixture of new and unheard songs as well as his classic hits. Fans will also need to keep their eyes peeled on social media to look out for his camper van.

He plays Elsewhere in The Centre, Margate on Friday, July 26. Book tickets here.
