Classic Disney films to be shown at Showcase Cinema de Lux at Bluewater, in Greenhithe, to celebrate 100 years of Disney

Relive some of the best-loved animated films of all time this summer.

To celebrate 100 years of Disney, a selection of classic films from the studio are being screened at Bluewater’s Showcase Cinema de Lux.

The Greenhithe shopping centre will be showing the children’s films throughout the summer holidays right through to October.

Tickets to the screenings are also being offered at a discounted price of £5.

The screenings started with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which is being shown at the cinema until Thursday, August 10.

The film, released in 1937, made history as the first ever full-length animated feature film and helped turn Walt Disney into a household name.

The screenings continue with Bambi, which was the studio’s fifth feature film in 1942, and the Academy Award-nominated Cinderella.

Both films will be shown at the cinema later this month.

In September, families can watch Peter Pan, 101 Dalmatians, the Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast.

Next month will also offer screenings of Toy Story, Pixar’s debut feature film release and the first entirely computer-animated feature film in history, starring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.

The series will finish off with showings of the Princess and the Frog and Frozen, the first Walt Disney Animation Studios film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Jon Dixon, marketing manager for Showcase Cinemas, said: “We can’t wait to welcome these Disney animated favourites back to the big screen.

“A recent survey we carried out shows that 97% of Brits love watching animated movies, so we know there is a huge appetite for reliving our childhood and re-watching our favourite films from years gone by.

“What’s more, this is a great chance for Disney fans of all ages to see films of yesteryear for perhaps the very first time in the cinema and experience them in a setting that you just can’t get at home.

“With all tickets just £5, it really is the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy Disney classics back on the big screen.”

Tickets to all screenings can be booked online here.

Tickets can also be purchased at the cinema, which is located on the Upper Thames Walk at Bluewater.
