Brands Hatch will host Gung-Ho! in June with an inflatable obstacle course

An inflatable obstacle course which holds enough air to fill 12 million footballs is set to be unleashed on adventurous Kent folk this summer.

The team behind Gung-Ho! who visit Brands Hatch on Saturday, June 3, have spent months designing and building a new, until-now unseen Rock n Roll Star inflatable.

Brains behind the event, CBeebies presenter Alex Winters, said the 8m wide, 30m long Rock n Roll Star will live up to its billing as one of the new stars of the event, alongside obstacles including Europe’s tallest inflatable slide – the 22m high and 60m long Thriller.

He said: "Rock n’ Roll Star is now my absolute favourite obstacle. It is like nothing else on the Gung-Ho! course and I’m sure it’ll also become a firm favourite with Gung-Hoers this year and in future.

“It’s huge, tricky and above all a whole load of fun to get over. We’ve tried it out at two events and the feedback has been amazing. Some people have spent more than fifteen minutes just bouncing and sliding around on it!"

Thousands took part in the event last summer, but Alex said they wanted something different for this year.

"We racked our brains about what form it would take and came up with a bouncy castle-come-slide that is a whole lot of fun to go on."

Up to 5,000 runners can take on Gung-Ho!’s 10 obstacles, which include a giant ball pit, climbing wall and labyrinth.

Alex came up with the idea in 2014 while watching Ninja Warrior with his three children on TV.

Brands Hatch is the eighth stop on a 12-date tour of the country for Gung-Ho! Many runners take part for charity.

Tickets are at an early bird rate of £38 and are available at begung-ho.co.uk

Participants who race for the national charity partner BBC Children in Need can get discounted tickets via bbc.co.uk/Pudsey.

Runners must be at least 4ft tall.
