It is Branagh’s first Shakespearean performance for more than a decade since he played Richard III in 2002.

He is co-directing the production, which also stars acclaimed actress Alex Kingston, best known as Dr Elizabeth Corday on ER, as Lady Macbeth.

The tragic tale of ambition and treachery is being staged in a Manchester church as part of the city’s annual festival, but audiences in Kent will be able to see the final performance on Saturday, July 20, as it is being broadcast live at venues around the county.

Cinemas taking part are Ashford Cineworld, Canterbury’s Gulbenkian, Maidstone Odeon, Rochester Cineworld, Tunbridge Wells Odeon, Vue at Westwood Cross in Broadstairs and Showcase Bluewater.

A recorded screening will also be shown at Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells on Thursday, August 1.
