Former Strictly star Joanne Clifton in the Addams Family musical at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre

They're creepy, they're kooky and they’re coming to Kent.

The Addams Family, starring former Strictly Come Dancing professional Joanne Clifton, opens at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford on Tuesday, February 22.

The macabre clan have been adapted for the stage and are set to disturb and delight audiences across the country in this musical comedy.

The show sees the family’s deadpan daughter Wednesday Addams fall in love with a “normal” boy, forcing the rest of the group to hide their spooky ways.

Joanne plays Morticia Addams, the glamorous and gothic matriarch of the family, alongside Cameron Blakely as her devoted husband Gomez. Kingsley Morton and Grant McIntyre will take to the stage as the couple’s eccentric children, with Scott Paige as Uncle Fester.

"It’s a feel-good, fun, laugh-out loud family show," says the 38-year-old dancer. "Audiences know the characters, they know the world of the Addams Family from the TV show and films, but there are some surprises in store."

Joanne is perhaps best known as a professional dancer for two series of Strictly Come Dancing. During her stint on the primetime television show, Joanne lifted the glitterball trophy with presenter Ore Oduba, won the Christmas Special with McFly’s Harry Judd and performed one of the show’s most memorable dances dressed as a lobster with radio DJ Scott Mills.

"I’ve done loads of things in Dartford and I love how close to home it is," adds Joanne. "It’s a great theatre, plus because it’s near London I get lots of friends and family coming along to support me."

Since announcing her departure from the show in 2017, Joanne has become a familiar face in theatre. She has starred in UK tours of the Rocky Horror Show, Flashdance and Top Hat.

Joanne also starred in Canterbury's 2021 pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, at the Marlowe.
