Estate agent Cradick Retail advertised the 2,294 sq ft building to let for £35,000 per year.

“The subject property occupies a prominent corner trading position on Grosvenor Road a busy and popular part of the town directly adjacent to Taco Bell,” the listing said.

“The property is arranged over ground floor and basement and benefits from rear access.”

The first and second floors, which are used as office space, have also been put up for rent at £16,000 per year.

The branch launched on Monday, September 18, after a full refurbishment and is open an extra 10 hours a week.

Improvements included adding accessibility at the entrance for customers, as well as a low-level writing desk and serving counter for wheelchair users.

There are two screened counters that offer retail and postal services from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

They also sell cards, stationery, confectionery, drinks and tobacco.

A third counter, offering more selected services, is open from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 6pm.

An experienced postmaster has also taken on the branch at the new location.

A spokesman said: “After feedback received during consultation, we remain confident that the layout and location of the new branch will continue to meet customer needs and deliver an excellent service, whilst securing the long-term viability of Post Office services in the area.”
