A 51-year-old woman who died after falling from level 4 of the Crescent Road multi-storey car park in Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday has been named by police.

She was Melanie Snowdon, a married woman, of Cobbett's Ride, off Broadwater Lane, Tunbridge Wells.

She suffered serious head injuries in the fall and was taken to the town's Kent and Sussex Hospital where she was found to have died.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm on Wednesday and led to police sealing off the car park while it was investigated. A spokeswoman later said there were no suspicious circumstances.

An inquest into Mrs Snowdon's death has been opened and adjourned by West Kent coroner Roger Hatch. The date for the full hearing has yet to be fixed.
