POLICE officers have executed five warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act over a two-day period at addresses in the Tunbridge Wells area.

On Wednesday, warrants were executed at premises in Upper Grosvenor Road, Neville Terrace and Henwood Mount, Pembury.

One man was arrested for assault and later released on police bail.

Another man, aged 21, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class C drug. He was bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on August 15.

On Thursday, two warrants were executed at addresses at Heskett Park and Henwood Green Road, Pembury.

About 200 cannabis plants were recovered along with hydroponics equipment. Two men were arrested for cultivating cannabis.

Anne McCarthy, police media and communications officer, said: "The warrants were executed over two days rather than as individual events to have a greater impact on those people involved in the drugs market and related acquisitive crime activities in Tunbridge Wells.

"The warrants are part of an on-going disruption plan and reinforce the message of the Drugs Liaison Unit in West Kent that drugs will not be tolerated and police will act on intelligence gathered."

PC Lee Oakley, Drugs Liaison Officer said: "The removal of the hydroponics factory and this number of cannabis plants will definitely impact on drugs supply. A very sophisticated system had been set up."
