Tunbridge Wells: Man arrested after Sainsbury's robbed in Mount Pleasant Road

A man's been charged over the robbery of a supermarket in Tunbridge Wells.

On Wednesday police were called around 8.50pm after a man entered Sainsbury's in Mount Pleasant Road and threatened staff who said he was carrying a weapon.

No weapon was seen, but the man is alleged to have then left the store with stolen alcohol.

A short while later police arrested Steven Morris close to the junction with Monson Road.

Morris, aged 42 and of no fixed address has been charged with robbery, using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear and for possessing a bladed article in a public place.

He was remanded into custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 9 September.
