Councillor dies after stroke

WALTER Clary, Labour councillor for Southborough and High Brooms ward on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, has died suddenly following a stroke.

Cllr Clary, who was in his 80s, lived in Somerhill Avenue, Hildenborough, with his partner Sally. He had been a councillor since 1991.

He had a keen interest in environmental and planning issues, and was a member of the Western Area Planning Committee.

Cllr Clary is the second loss for the Labour party in Tunbridge Wells recently. Former councillor Val Catt died only a few weeks earlier.
