Affectionate dog needs a home after 10 years in a rescue centre

All Bess wants is a comfy bed, lots of treats and a loving owner.

But for the last 10 years this pretty pooch has been living at Last Chance Animal Rescue in Edenbridge.

Now volunteers are hoping to find her a permanent home to spend her twilight years.

Carrie Thatcher works at the Hartfield Road centre.

She said: "Bess is the dog that is always overlooked! Could it be she has been the dog that has been the longest time ever in a Rescue Centre? Ten long years- but we haven’t given up hope of her finding the right home.

Maybe you can help us. We would love to find a loving home where this girl could enjoy the comforts of home in her twilight years. If you feel you could offer her the home she needs please do not hesitate to contact us

"Bess has sadly been with us at Last Chance Animal Rescue, Edenbridge for 10 years now.

"It’s no surprise that she now has trust issues with new people. It takes her quite a while to build up a bond with someone but it’s always handy to have some treats to win her over.

"She is very stubborn and if she doesn’t want to do something she won’t do it, this is how she has become very clever in conning staff to give her treats.

"When Bess trusts you she is affectionate and loves to be petted but very much on her own terms, she doesn’t like to be over fussed or crowded. Bess would need a very understanding and devoted home with someone who is happy to leave her be to adjust to her new home life after so many years in kennels. All Bess would love is a nice soft comfy bed and short walks throughout the day, she is house trained and not destructive. She would make an interesting pet and if you have the time and patience she could become a loving addition to your new home"
