Plans to redevelop Shell petrol station in Quarry Hill Road, Tonbridge to include EV charging bays

Electric vehicle charging bays will be introduced at a petrol station in Tonbridge as part of redevelopment plans.

Documents show the Shell garage at the roundabout junction of Quarry Hill Road and Brook Street is being redesigned to make it more accessible and to reduce congestion in the area.

Developers hope to knock down the existing sales building and canopy to make way for a new building and forecourt.

It means the fuel pumps will be moved around and space will be made for the two electric vehicle charging bays.

A parcel collection locker will also be added alongside eight parking spaces, six more than currently available.

The plans have already been approved by the council, once on November 12, and again on February 2 but the developer is now seeking further approval after making minor changes to the layout.

It wants to make room for a slightly larger sales area and move the EV bays from the rear of the site so they instead sit adjacent to the new building.

The car parking spaces will then take the former spot of the charging bays.

The forecourt will continue to have three islands so six vehicles to fill up at once.

A noise survey has also been carried out to ensure the less disruption to neighbours.
