Person hit by train between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells

A person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train.

Trains between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells were halted following the incident earlier today.

A Southeastern spokesman said: "The person has been taken to hospital by the emergency services.

"Our teams need to undertake some checks on the train involved in the incident before the line can reopen."

Services were disrupted between Tonbridge and Hastings, but trains had returned to normal by 2.30pm.

A spokesman said earlier: "We're working on restoring Hastings Line services between Tonbridge and Hastings but they have been delayed and may be revised or cancelled."

Southeastern said tickets would be valid on trains to London via Paddock Wood, London Underground on "reasonable routes" and Southern Trains between Hastings and St Leonard's Warrior Square.

Tickets could also be used on bus routes 6/6A - Tunbridge Wells-Paddock Wood; 7 - Tonbridge-High Brooms; 402 - High Brooms-Tunbridge Wells; 23 - St Leonards Warrior Square-Hastings; 254 - Tunbridge Wells-Wadhurst and the 304 - Robertsbridge-St Leonards Warrior Square.
