Paddock Wood teacher launches new exhibition at Sissinghurst Castle

A Kent teacher is taking the art world by storm with her new exhibition.

Louise Pettifer is an art teacher at Mascalls School in Paddock Wood. After years of nurturing the artistic talents of children the creative educator is now showing off her skills at Sissinghurst Castle.

Even before her exhibition went public Miss Pettifer's artwork was so well received she was invited to the Affordable Art Fair in London, by Avery Contemporary Art.

She said: “I am delighted at the response my artwork has received and I am thrilled to be showing it in such a beautiful setting. I hope my pupils will see that dedicating time and effort to your work can result in great things happening.

"There is so much to inspire me at Sissinghurst and in the surrounding countryside of Kent and East Sussex. I am looking forward to spending more time developing a larger collection of work in the future.”

Miss Pettifer created her collection using a combination of printmaking, drawing and hand cut paper collage.

Her exhibition, An Artist's Year at Sissinghurst, runs until Sunday, September 27 in the castle in Biddenden Road near Cranbrook.
