Gunman in raid on off-licence

KENT Police are hunting a robber armed with a handgun who held up an off-licence.

The incident happened at Unwins in York Parade, Tonbridge, on Wednesday, February 8at about 7.45pm.

Police spokeswoman Anne McCarthy said the raider entered the store and demanded that an employee working behind the counter hand over money from the till.

She added: "As he was speaking he produced a handgun and pointed it at the employee. The till was opened and he was given the money and left.

"The employee was shocked but not hurt. The robber is described as white, aged between 17-23, and of slight build.

"He was wearing a dark coloured woollen hat. His face was muffled by a white scarf or bandage and he was wearing a dark blue ‘Puffa’ style jacket and jeans."
