Bogus window cleaner tricks elderly woman

AN ELDERLY woman had her purse stolen at the weekend during a distraction burglary.

A man knocked at the door of the 89-year-old's home in Bridge Close, Tonbridge, at about midday on Saturday and said he was starting a new window cleaning round in the area.

He went into the house to look at the rear windows, but after he left the woman discovered her purse was missing.

The man is described as white, 25-years-old, of medium build with short, mousey coloured hair, and he was wearing a beige coloured coat or mac.

PC Andy Blackmore, West Kent crime reduction officer said: "I would urge people not to let unexpected callers into their homes."
