Margate dealt blow following change in goalkeeper Amadou Tangara's personal circumstances

Margate have been dealt a goalkeeper blow.

Amadou Tangara replaced Ben Bridle-Card, who the Isthmian Premier club let go on the eve of the new season, with Margate manager Andy Drury hailing Tangara as one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

But after their 3-3 draw against Haringey on Tuesday, Tangara said on Twitter: “Thank you to @margate_fc and everyone associated to the club!

“Due to [a] recent family addition and changes in personal circumstances, I have to stay close to home.

“I wish the club the very best for the rest of the season.”

Gate themselves said: “The club wants to thank @amadouTangara22 for his time and wish him all the best.

“We will continue to support Amadou while he goes through these changes in personal circumstances.”

Cameron Brodie's late strike rescued a point for Margate as they fought back from 3-1 down to draw with Haringey in midweek at Hartsdown Park.

A goal from Ben Greenhalgh had drawn them level, after Haringey had taken a seventh-minute lead, before the visitors took a two-goal advantage in the second half.

Striker Korrey Henry reduced the arrears with 17 minutes to play, before on-loan Dartford midfielder Brodie clinched a point for Gate.

Goalkeeper Owen Kallmeier was an unused substitute for the match against Haringey.

Margate this Saturday face an FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round trip to league rivals Billericay. The winner of the tie will earn £2,450.
