A woman and child were taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Cliftonville.

Neither of the victims, who were both on foot, is believed to have serious injuries after the accident at just after 7pm at the junction with Lyndhurst Avenue and Northdown Road.

Three ambulance cars and an ambulance were sent to the scene.

The boy, believed to be around four years old, suffered cuts, grazes and an injured leg. The woman's injuries were not said to be serious.

The road was part closed, but reopened at 8.15pm.
