Weapons and ammunition discovered at home in Northdown Road, Margate where man was found dead

Bomb disposal experts have been called to the home of a man who died after "falling through the floorboards" of a home in Margate.

They were called in after a hoard of Second World War memorabilia, including firearms, were found at the home of a 67-year-old man, who is believed to have died after falling at his rundown home in Northdown Road on Tuesday.

Now, firearms experts are helping to sift through the home following the discovery.

Thanet District Commander, Chief Inspector Julien Lawton said: "During the course of the investigation, officers discovered a number of 2nd World War memorabilia, including some de-activated weapons.

"To ensure the safety of the public and community we are working with the army's bomb disposal team to make the weapons safe before they are removed. There is no danger to the public."
