Washer dryer fault sparks fire in Margate

Fire crews raced to a home in the early hours after a fault in a washer dryer sparked a blaze.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident in Dane Park Road, Margate, just after midnight this morning.

Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze, which is believed to have started after a fault in the appliance.

A ventilation fan was used to clear the house of smoke and the washer dryer was moved to the garden.
