Sinkhole in Ramsgate as large hole opens in middle of Kings Avenue

A large sinkhole has opened up in a residential road.

Photos show gaping cracks in the Tarmac in the middle of Kings Avenue, Ramsgate, which has been closed while an investigation is carried out.

Council workers are at the scene.

One eyewitness said the hole is believed to be about 3m deep.

A Kent County Council spokesperson said: “Highways officers have attended reports of carriageway subsidence in Kings Avenue, Ramsgate.

“The road has been closed while an investigation takes place to ascertain what repairs may be necessary.”
