A man appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday charged with murder after the discovery of a body at a flat in Margate.

Renes Kutkevics, 25, is alleged to have killed 24-year-old Nikita Panarins in Hawley Square between November 11 and 12.

Anne Phillips, prosecuting, said the case could be delayed as Kutkevics, Mr Panarins and witnesses were all from the Latvian community and there was a shortage of interpreters in the area.

Mr Panarins worked at a warehouse for Morrisons supermarket in Sittingbourne.

Kutkevics, of Hawley Square, will return to court on February 15 next year to enter a plea to the charge. He was remanded in custody.

Judge Andrew Patience QC set a provisional trial date for June 28.
