Why stand for election?

It’s time for common sense. The good people of this country have been given the run-around for too long, and frankly they’re being offered some proper joke candidates. Me standing means that issue is finally out in the open and will hopefully help them make the right choice.

Why would a comedian make a good MP?

I keep being told the jobs are mutually compatible.

What do you think of your opposition in South Thanet?

South Thanet has had a long line of great MPs including Jonathon Aitken and it’s great to be a part of that tradition. What’s clear is that it’s too much for the Tories to handle or Laura Sandys wouldn’t be standing down.

What do you think of Thanet? Have you been here many times before?

Like many parliamentary hopefuls I wasn’t even sure where the constituency was when I first put myself up for election – I know Margate well enough, the Winter Gardens is one of my favourite venues in the UK. But I have visited Sandwich and in my time eaten many sandwiches and I think that demonstrates my links to the area go deep, deep down.

Are you coming to visit soon and when?

Next week.

How would you bring tourism back to Margate?

Simple. Anyone who wants to go on a foreign holiday has to go to Margate first on their way to Manston airfield to fly to wherever it is they’re going.

A lot of people here want Manston Airport back. What would you do?

See above. That and station four squadrons of Spitfires (Mark IXs if you’re interested) to patrol the Channel during daylight hours.

Thanet council want to create 12,000 more homes in the district over the next 20 years - what are your thoughts on that?

They should build 24,000 in five. What’s the hold up?

Why a demilitarized zone between North and South Thanet?

Since the constituency was split in two in 1974 tension has been running high. It was that or call in the UN.

To make beer a penny a pint, what would you put the price up of?

Soft drinks. That’s where the margin is mate.
