Two men attacked by group on Margate beach

Two men were attacked by a group on a beach after being verbally abused.

Police were called to the Main Sands in Margate after the victims were set upon by around 15 people on the beach near the lifeboat station.

Detectives are now urging members of the public to come forward if they witnessed the incident after the men were allegedly abused before being assaulted.

The attack took place on Thursday, May 23, between 5pm and 6.30pm with the victims reporting it was unprovoked.

Police said the victims reported around 15 young people returned after they were initially subjected to abuse from two young men.

A police spokesman said: "It was reported that the victims, aged 29 and 34, were confronted by two young men who were verbally abusive towards them.

"They then left the area but returned with a number of other people before allegedly assaulting the victims.
