Kent Police probe after stabbing near Viking Bay beach in Broadstairs

A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in the centre of a Kent town.

Police are investigating the incident after the victim was attacked last night in Albion Street, Broadstairs, opposite the junction with Harbour Street.

Officers and paramedics were called to the scene close to Viking Bay shortly after 10pm, before cordoning off nearby route Carlton Avenue.

The man was taken to a local hospital with a stab wound, but it is understood his injuries are not life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: "A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and a weapon has been recovered as part of the investigation."
