Air ambulance called after man involved in car crash 'assaulted' in Canterbury Road, Birchington

Emergency crews arrived at the scene of a car crash to find a man had been seriously hurt in an assault.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance rushed to the scene in Canterbury Road, Birchington just after 10pm last night.

They were called to reports of a crash involving two cars, but arrived to find one of the victims had been assaulted.

The man, aged around 30, had suffered chest and arm injuries.

He was taken to King's College Hospital in London by road, accompanied by air ambulance medics.

A police spokesman said: "On arrival it was said that a man had been assaulted and officers are currently investigating the circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing."
