Garages alight after rubbish fire spreads and injures man in Wheatley Place, Margate

A rubbish fire spread to nearby buildings and injured a man

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in Wheatley Place, Margate at 4.50pm after it was initially reported as a gate fire.

A statement by a fire service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find a fire involving rubbish next to garages had spread to the garages and to the rear of a property.

"Crews found a man presenting with partial burns to his hands and administered first aid by running cool water over the burns for at least twenty minutes.

"They tackled the blaze with hose reel jets."

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
