Ramsgate man due in court accused of criminal damage and assaulting several police officers in Maidstone

A Ramsgate man has been charged after a number of police officers were allegedly assaulted and a police vehicle and ambulance damaged.

Officers were called to a property in Sandling Road, Maidstone on Friday night following reports of a disturbance.

Harold Andrews was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

He is accused of assaulting two officers while being arrested and another three while in custody. He also allegedly racially abused another.

The 25-year-old of Meeting Street, Ramsgate, is also said to have damaged the emergency vehicles.

He has been charged with five counts of assaulting an emergency worker, three counts of criminal damage and one count of racially aggravated harassment.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
