Man charged after rock thrown through window at The Hussar pub in Garlinge, near Margate

A man has been charged after a woman was injured when a rock was thrown through a pub window.

Police launched an investigation following the alleged attack at The Hussar in Canterbury Road, Garlinge, near Margate.

The victim was taken to hospital with head injuries after the incident, which took place between 12.10pm and 12.20pm on New Year's Day.

A police spokesman said: "Stephen Gowton, 36, of no fixed address, was arrested on Saturday and charged the following day with causing grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.

"He appeared in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody.

"The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, February 13."
