Broadstairs man charged after £164 of chocolate biscuits stolen from Co-op

A man is due to appear in court after £164 worth of chocolate biscuits were stolen from a Co-op.

Alex Horey, 29, of Botany Road in Broadstairs, has been charged with four counts of shoplifting and one count of assault.

It follow a report that a masked shoplifter was challenged and assaulted a man in Tesco Express in the town on Friday, March 10. About £90 worth of items were reported stolen from the store.

The charges also relate to three other reports of shoplifting on the same date.

About £95 worth of items were stolen from the Co-op in Grange Road, Ramsgate, while £164 worth of chocolate biscuits were taken from the Co-op in Minster.

Items were also stolen from the Co-op in Birchington.

Mr Horey has been bailed to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 6.
