Kitchen fire in Nash Court Road, Margate, claims the life of a dog

A dog has died in a late night house fire in Nash Court Road, Margate.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze in the basement kitchen of a three-storey building at 11.45pm yesterday.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and two crews from Margate, as well as one from Thanet (Westwood), were needed to tackle the fire at its height.

All occupants were accounted for and there were no casualties. However, the blaze claimed the life of a dog, which was found by firefighters on the first floor.

Crews left the scene shortly after 1am.
