Hunt for young boys after woman stabbed in back with hypodermic needle in Cottage Road, Ramsgate

Police are hunting two boys aged between 10 and 12 after a 69-year-old woman was stabbed in the back with a needle.

The victim was walking along Cottage Road in Ramsgate, towards Alliance Road, at 5.20pm on Monday when she felt a poking sensation.

A hypodermic needle was found in her back and she was taken to hospital for tests.

Police have issued an appeal to find two young boys who were seen in the area at the time.

Both are described as white boys aged between 10 and 12 years old. One had black hair, was of slim build and was wearing a white top and dark trousers.

The second boy was also of slim build and had short dark brown hair. He was wearing a white top and dark trousers.

PC Andy Howe said: "Any assault is a serious offence but one in which a needle is reportedly used is particularly concerning for the associated health reasons.

"The victim has attended hospital and is undergoing further precautionary medical tests.

"I want to stress this an incredibly rare incident but it's important anyone who has any information contacts Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting ZY/24807/15."
