Crews tackle fires in Dartford and Broadstairs

Firefighters fought back flames after a blaze took hold inside a town centre flat.

A bedroom ignited in Francis Road, Broadstairs, prompting a strong emergency service reaction at about 1.45pm.

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews from four fire engines used high-pressure hose reel jets to prevent the spread.

Nobody was injured and the fire is believed to have been accidental.

Speaking after the incident, a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, said: “No injuries were reported and the affected residents were offered support by the crews and the KFRS volunteer response team.

“The cause has not yet been confirmed but is believed to be accidental.”

Meanwhile, crews also tackled a kitchen fire in Clayton Road, Dartford, between 3pm and 4pm.

Using high-pressure and main jets, firefighters from two engines damped down the flames and cleared the home of smoke with high-pressured fans.
