Jail for father-of-two Ross Sells from Ramsgate who stabbed Danny Turowski

A father-of-two plunged a knife into the partner of an escort worker telling him:“That one’s for your heart!”

But the reason Ross Sells launched his vicious and savage attack on Danny Turowski is unclear, a judge has heard.

The electrical supervisor, who earns £40,000-a-year, chased after his victim slashing his head and stabbing him through his lungs before leaving him for dead.

Minutes earlier the single parent had been told that escort Natalie Hayton was dressed in her pjs and wasn’t expecting him.

Sells, of Park View, Ramsgate has now been jailed for twelve years after admitting wounding Mr Turowski with intent and assaulting a policeman.

Canterbury Crown Court heard how the attack happened in June last year when Sells turned up at his victim’s home and launched the unprovoked attack.

Judge Simon James heard the blow to the stomach had been made with considerable force – and the weapon had gone right through his lungs.

He said: “That blow penetrated your victim’s lungs going straight through and coming out the other side.

“You then fled and left your victim for dead and its clear from your later comments that you had believed you had killed him.

“It was only due to prompt and skilled medical attention that he survived.”

Prosecutor Martin Yale told how Sells had contacted the escort agency to book Ms Hayton’s services.

“He then turned up at a flat where Ms Hayton and Mr Turowski were. Mr Turowski explained to him that Ms Hayton was in her pyjamas.”

Sells then asked him to drive him to take him to a place where he could get drugs and he said he knew someone in Loughborough Court.

It was then the victim saw that Sells had a knife and initially thought he was joking with him but “then Sells began swinging the knife at him.”

Mr Yale added: “As Mr Turowski tried to get away he tripped and fell, dropping his phone and keys. As he got up Sells caught up with him and stabbed him in the head.”

He then felt another blow and Mr Turowski, who had run into a dead end, turned and told his attacker to drop the knife.

“He was bleeding heavily but told him he would fight him without the knife. But Sells just cut him across his chest using severe force

“He knows what he did was wrong and wishes he could turn back the clock...” Benjamin Narain, defending

"Sells told him: ‘That one is for the heart!’ And the victim slumped to the ground,“ the prosecutor added.

The knifeman then fled across a roof top leaving his stricken victim bleeding heavily on the ground with the motive of the vicious assault a mystery.

After his arrest he kicked a police officer, the court heard.

The judge heard that Sells was a devoted father who held positions of authority on building sites.

Benjamin Narain, defending told the judge: “This was completely out of character and he has found it hard to explain his behaviour. But he says he was disgusted and ashamed at what he has done.

“He knows what he did was wrong and wishes he could turn back the clock.”
