A28 Canterbury Road in Westage-On-Sea shut for emergency sewage pipe repairs

Emergency repairs will close a road for up to 10 days after a sewer main burst.

Southern Water announced part of the A28 Canterbury Road in Westgate-On-Sea will be closed from this evening at 7pm.

A diversion route will be in place until June 16 as the road eastbound towards Margate is shut.

In a statement, Southern Water bosses apologised for the disruption.

“We are very sorry for the disruption this will cause to residents and road users,” the statement read.

“Unfortunately, without significant action, severe damage would be caused to the carriageway.
