A cyclist has died after she swerved off a cycle path and collided with a car.

The crash happened shortly after 7pm yesterday in Dane Court Road, Broadstairs.

The victim, a 63-year-old woman, died at the scene.

She had been using the cycle path before the black and blue Boardman bicycle she was riding swerved into the path of an oncoming blue Daihatsu Sirion.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated.
