A pervert has been jailed after he admitted sexually abusing two young girls.

Jobless Dean Forrester, of Gordon Road, Cliftonville, was handed five years behind bars.

The offences took place in the Thanet area in November last year and involved girls under the age of eight.

The 44-year-old appeared before Canterbury Crown Court for sentencing on Friday.

He was told his name will stay on the Sex Offenders' Register for the rest of his life.

Detective Sergeant John Cooper said: "Kent Police remains determined to seek out those individuals who abuse children.

"We are committed to identifying offenders and bringing them before the courts."
