An iconic WWII aircraft flies just metres from one of Action Stations' chartered helicopters

The skies above Thanet will be full of the sight and sound of a Spitfire and Messerschmit on Sunday May 30 when an event to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain takes place at Manston airfield.

Organised by the RAF Manston Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum in Manston Road, the event will also feature a Boeing Stearman, Russian Yak-55, plus authentic air raid sound effects.

Organisations taking part in the static displays include Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent Fleet Air Arm Association, IMPS Military Vehicles, Bomb Disposal and Armourers and Royal British Legion Riders.

Other attractions include licensed bars and refreshments stands, children's rides, a chocolate fountain, and a bouncy castle.

The event is from 11am-5pm, parking is £5 for cars. For more information and tickets, call 01843 821940, Mon-Fri between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
