Police arrest two men in Ramsgate after man seen holding shotgun in car

A man has been arrested after being spotted reportedly holding a shotgun in a car.

Police were called to Ramsgate seafront at 2.30am after a disturbance was reported and two men were thought to be carrying a knife.

While at the scene in Harbour Parade, police received another call that one of the men was seen in a car and holding a firearm.

A shotgun and knife were recovered from the area following a search and police arrested two men.

A 26-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

A 19-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both men are in custody and being questioned by detectives with investigations ongoing, police confirmed.

A police spokesman said: "If anyone saw something suspicious in the area at the time and did not speak to police at the scene, they are urged to call Kent Police."

Kent Police is carrying out a gun amnesty this month and calling on people with firearms to hand them in to officers throughout the county - including Margate police station.
