Police helicopter, armed officer and dog unit deployed to Clements Road, Ramsgate

Police have made an arrest after armed officers, a dog unit and helicopter were deployed following reports of a man behaving erratically in a flat.

The 51-year-old suspect was apprehended in Clements Road, Ramsgate, on suspicion of possessing of a bladed article.

Residents reported seeing the helicopter hover above the area for a lengthy period of time this morning, with some saying they were told to stay inside.

The route, off Margate Road, was shut as a result of the incident.

No one else was believed to be in the property and no injuries have been reported.

Police were called out shortly before 11am, and a helicopter circled the town.

A force spokesman said: "Officers would like to thank local residents for their cooperation during the response to the incident."
