Key defender George Crimmen has rejoined Sittingbourne - just days after quitting for Sheppey.

Crimmen, Brickies' best player this season, dropped two levels to join United in the Kent Invicta League in a surprise move.

He made his debut in a 5-1 defeat by Hollands & Blair on Saturday but is back at Woodstock Park.

Brickies secretary John Pitts said: "From what George said he was offered a good deal to go there.

"I received a text message saying he'd made a terrible mistake and could he come back.

"I had no problem with that - I'm pleased to have him back.

"There were never any hard feelings when he left."

Crimmen's dad, Barry, has been replaced as Brickies assistant manager by Tony Cornwell but could stay on at the club.

Pitts added: "Barry was at the Faversham game on Saturday.

"He's not expressed any desire to leave as far as I know but you'd have to ask Barry."

Brickies have dropped into mid-table in Ryman League Division 1 South after one win in nine games under new boss Nick Davis.

But Pitts believes their strong early-season form, when they sat fourth, merely papered over problems at the club.

Pitts said: "Nick's taken this run of form badly and he's determined to turn things around.

"There's no pressure from us at all because we always felt that while we were doing well on paper earlier in the season, there were quite a few things not right."
