Fearless teenagers Jack Steventon and Josh Wisson are set to keep two of Sittingbourne’s main men out of the side.

Conrad Lee and George Crimmen proved their fitness after injuries in a 4-1 friendly win over Gravesham Borough at the weekend, a hastily arranged fixture after the home league game against Whyteleafe was rained off.

But manager Nick Davis intends to keep faith with 17-year-olds Steventon and Wisson, who have helped Brickies climb away from the Ryman League Division 1 South relegation zone.

They go to East Grinstead on Saturday (3pm) and the pair will keep their shirts.

Steventon has slotted in at centre-half alongside Billy French, with Wisson sitting in front of the back four after Jono Richardson moved to left-back to cover for Lee.

Davis said: “Josh and Jack have been brilliant and when Connor Wilkins has come on we’ve had three 17-year-olds in the team.

“These young lads are fearless. They don’t know any of the names we talk about, they just go out and defend.

“When you’re older and more aware of the players you’re coming up against, you can get a little nervous.

“We’ve been defensively sound over the last few games. To see Jack and Josh playing regular Ryman League football at their age is fantastic.

“They’ve not cemented their places but there’s no way I can leave them out or change the back four at the minute."

Tuesday night's league game at Walton & Hersham was postponed.
