A garland of knitted poppies was hung in the window of Sittingbourne library to mark Remembrance Sunday.

It was created by members of the knit and natter group, which meets at the venue every other Wednesday between 10.30am and noon and every other Thursday between 5.45pm and 7.45pm.

Members from other knit and natter groups also contributed to the hanging display. Librarian Anne Pilcher said: “There must be about 50 poppies on it.

“We decided to hang it in the window so everyone could see it when the service and Act of Remembrance was held at the War Memorial in Central Avenue on Sunday.

“I think we’re going to hold on to it and put it up again next year.”
