Thousands left without power after electrical fault in Sittingbourne

Thousands of residents were left without electricity after two power cuts in Sittingbourne.

UK Power Networks said several thousand customers were affected by a fault on the network at 7.37am this morning, but that engineers worked quickly to restore supplies by 7.43am.

Earlier some customers had experienced another interruption at 1.22am, with most supplies being restored within two minutes.

A statement from UK Power Networks added: "Following a local line patrol, engineers located and disconnected a fault on the underground network so repairs can be safely completed. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused."

The fault affected residents in Sonora Fields, Kemsley and Archer's Park areas.
